God is a Matchmaker: The Update Pt. 1

I shared about a friend of mine who had recently gotten engaged in an earlier blog, and wanted to share an update on what is going on. The other night she was weighing  heavily on my mind so I gave her a call.

I tell you when God says something he says what he means and means what he says. Before I got on the phone, I felt strongly to tell her this man she was engaged to was not who God had for her and that God had another, but initially I kept my mouth shut even though I knew God was speaking. It’s not easy to say something like that, especially to a friend.

As the conversation went on, major red flags (deal breakers) started to be revealed in the conversation and the next thing I know I was sharing what God told me and she started telling me that her spiritual mother had told her the exact same thing and that she KNEW that everything I was saying was the truth. We both were in awe of God.

We shared for about two hours and there was sadness and a little embarrassment because she started to plan the wedding, relief in not going any further and we were in awe that God was stopping her from making the biggest mistake ever!!! And when I say it would have been a mistake, she knew it would have been a mistake. My friend said that if it were a month earlier she would not have been able to receive it, but at this point she was ready. We got interrupted during our call by a call from her fiancée and what transpired during their conversation further solidified that she is not going to marry this man. She called me right back and let me know it was settled in her mind.

God is a matchmaker. I believe that. And sometimes we may have to see for ourselves, plain and simple. We have to go through the process and get up close and personal to see that maybe what we think we want or settle for, is not what we really need or want after all. There is nothing like checking something out for yourself.  Although she felt bad, we rejoice in that God spared her from marrying the wrong person.

My friend admitted to me that she was getting a little fearful of being alone. Sometimes we get impatient and what God has for us is literally right around the corner, but we decide to take matters in our own hands. Yes God is a matchmaker. Yes, it sounded like a good love story, but it was actually a learning story.

Our conversation ended with me admonishing her by the Holy Spirit to end it as quickly as possible. Leading him on any longer would be detrimental. The minute you know something is not right in your spirit, is when it should be nipped in the bud. Don’t give the enemy an occasion to make matters worse. I know that is easier said than done, but you have to obey. It may hurt because you love that person, but listen to God.

Did they really fall in love? Yes, they did, but the truth is he loved her much more than she loved him. Part 2 coming soon…
