Love Series: God is a Matchmaker

One of my good friends who I went to high school with is getting married! We had lost contact for a very long time, but God destined for our paths to cross again about 8 years ago. We reconnected on 42nd Street in New York city. We passed each other in the street and I was looking for an employment agency at the time and she worked for the agency I was looking for! What are the chances? Only God!

I am so happy for my friend and her story is so interesting. The man she is engaged to was in her life since I’ve know her. They have always been friends, but she was always “looking” for the one somewhere else. I can understand why she was not interested though. He was not a Christian and she was not attracted to him that way. But he always told her that he was going to get saved and marry her. Well he gave his heart to the Lord a year ago and she got her ring around Christmas time.

It’s said that arranged marriages have a great success rate. In a lot of countries, even in this day and age, marriages are still arranged by the parents. These marriages are not so much based on the “pitter patter” of the heart, (not that they don’t have that) but rather the parents looking at the family and their values and seeing if the person is suitable for their child. In essence the parents become the matchmaker.

The truth of the matter is God is a matchmaker. I’ve heard so many stories of couples who did not think they were suited for each other, but they listened to God and obeyed what He said. I know one case in particular and they are going on over 25 years of marriage. God knew that they would be right for each other, even when they didn’t think so immediately.

I know this may not be everyones experience, but sometimes people have a hard time accepting God’s choice. Perhaps the person is a diamond in the rough right now. But just like my friend, after many hit and miss relationship encounters, she finally admitted that she loved this man and they are getting married.

Do you want the will of God in your choice is a mate? Don’t be afraid to submit to His will in this area. God knows what we want and He also knows what we need and he will give us both. Even if you don’t think you want who God has, before it’s all over, just like my friend, you will. ;)

God is a Matchmaker by Derek Prince

Genesis 2:20-22 New International Version

But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
